In 2022, the UK government MUST push through a Payment Choice Act, to make it a legal obligation for cash to be accepted for in-person payments. No excuses from the UK government are acceptable.
A Payment Choice Act has gained all-party support as it makes its way through the approval process in Washington. The US Act is only five pages of text. Yes! Just FIVE pages!
So Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak’s Treasury team need to get their act together to push through a UK Payment Choice Act in early 2022. Failure to do so would incur the wrath of the British public, with the potential for voters to exact their revenge at the next UK General Election!
