Cash is under threat across our planet.
Card schemes hate cash, as they can only wring profit from their debt-creating plastic products.
Visa and MasterCard have both made clear that cash is their enemy. Since 90% of all purchases on our planet are made using cash, this enemy of the card schemes must be the trusty friend of humanity.
Cash-is-Cool is working tirelessly to defend cash from predatory card schemes.

Cash IS Cool - and saves money!
As you know, I enjoy my little jaunts to foreign parts.
Of all the wonderful places I have been lucky enough to visit, Italy is undoubtedly my Numero Uno.
Why? Well, superb weather, great food, friendly people, historic buildings and gorgeous scenery all play their part BUT now another reason has been added to the roster.
ITALIANS REALLY LOVE CASH!
Some of us remember the good old days in the UK when a cash payment always earned a buyer a discount.
Somehow this discounting disappeared which is odd because accepting a debit card rather than cash costs a retailer 5 times as much as taking cash.
Anyway, whatever the reason, the era of discounts for cash has passed in the UK.
NOT SO IN ITALY!
During a recent trip to Sorrento I found wonderful retailers prepared to give me up to an 8% discount for paying cash -YES, that's right, 8%! So when I spent €100 euros (the Lira is long-gone, unfortunately) it really only cost me €92. Marvellous!
That got me thing thinking - WHY CAN'T WE HAVE A CAMPAIGN IN THE UK TO BRING BACK CASH DISCOUNTS?
THE ANSWER IS WE CAN - AND WE ARE GOING TO!
Over the next few months, Cash-is-Cool will be working with retail and business groups to set up a register of all those retailers and businesses prepared to offer a minimum of a 1% discount where a cash payment is made.
The register will be accessed on the Cash-is-Cool website, with free access for all those who visit the site.
