Treasury Not So Select Committee

David Cameron seems very determined to get mild-mannered Andrew Tyrie, Chairman of the Treasury Select Committee, to lead the investigations into the "LIBOR" fixing crisis.

Andrew Tyrie seems to be a decent man but, frankly, there is no evidence he has either the dynamism or change-making ability to provide the leadership required. Is it possible Tyrie has been selected so that the banking boat is not rocked too much?

If so, our coalition Prime Minister has made a big mistake. Mind you, that would hardly be surprising because there is little evidence to date that Mr Cameron has the dynamism or change-making ability to provide the leadership our country requires.

Poor generals select poor senior officers. General Cameron and Colonel Tyrie seem unlikely to inflict corporal punishment on bankers.
